Tomates Verdes Fritos

Ingredientes:

  • 4 tomates verdes grandes, cortados en rodajas gruesas
  • 1 taza de harina de trigo
  • 1 taza de harina de maíz
  • 1 cucharadita de sal
  • 1/2 cucharadita de pimienta negra
  • 1/2 cucharadita de ajo en polvo (opcional)
  • 1/2 taza de leche
  • 1 huevo grande, batido
  • Aceite para freír (puede ser aceite de maíz, canola o vegetal)

Instrucciones:

  1. Preparar los Tomates:
    • Lava los tomates verdes y córtalos en rodajas gruesas de aproximadamente 1 cm.
    • Coloca las rodajas de tomate en un plato y espolvorea un poco de sal por ambos lados. Deja reposar durante unos 10 minutos para que liberen un poco de su agua.
  2. Preparar la Mezcla de Harina:
    • En un tazón grande, mezcla la harina de trigo, la harina de maíz, la sal, la pimienta negra y el ajo en polvo si lo estás usando.
  3. Preparar la Mezcla Líquida:
    • En otro tazón, mezcla la leche y el huevo batido.
  4. Empanar los Tomates:
    • Seca las rodajas de tomate con una toalla de papel.
    • Sumerge cada rodaja primero en la mezcla de harina, luego en la mezcla líquida de huevo y leche, y finalmente vuelve a pasarla por la mezcla de harina. Asegúrate de que cada rodaja esté bien cubierta.
  5. Freír los Tomates:
    • En una sartén grande, calienta suficiente aceite a fuego medio-alto hasta que esté caliente pero no humeante.
    • Fríe las rodajas de tomate en el aceite caliente, en tandas si es necesario, hasta que estén doradas y crujientes por ambos lados (aproximadamente 3-4 minutos por cada lado).
  6. Escurrir y Servir:
    • Retira los tomates fritos de la sartén y colócalos en un plato cubierto con toallas de papel para escurrir el exceso de aceite.
    • Sírvelos calientes y disfruta. Puedes acompañarlos con una salsa de tu elección, como alioli de ajo, salsa ranch o incluso un toque de limón.
